Job Description:
Position Overview and Responsibilities The IT Operations &
Infrastructure Intern at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation
(OMRF) will gain hands-on experience supporting the organization?s
technology environment that enables world-class biomedical
research. This internship is designed for a motivated high school
senior or early college student interested in learning how
real-world IT operations support an active research institution.
Description : The intern will assist the IT team with preparing and
deploying technology for incoming summer students and researchers,
while also gaining exposure to IT helpdesk operations,
infrastructure support, and enterprise technology environments. The
program emphasizes both technical learning and professional skill
development, helping prepare the intern for future IT roles and
internships. Key Responsibilities : Device Imaging & Deployment
Image, configure, and prepare 50 laptops (Windows PCs and Apple
Macs) for incoming summer students. Install operating systems,
security tools, and required applications. Verify systems are
properly configured and ready for deployment. Hardware Preparation
Inventory, label, and stage laptops and related peripherals.
Perform basic troubleshooting and hardware setup IT Helpdesk
Support Assist IT staff deploy laptops and setup summer students.
Assist IT staff with basic support requests. Learn ticketing
workflows and troubleshooting processes. Observe and participate in
resolving common technical issues. Infrastructure Exposure Gain
introductory experience with enterprise IT environments including:
Device management Network connectivity User account provisioning
System deployment processes ?Documentation Assist with updating
setup documentation and internal procedures. Maintain records of
device imaging and deployment. Additional Duties Support other IT
projects and operational tasks aligned with the intern?s current
experience and skill level. Learning Opportunities: This internship
is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in multiple
areas of IT operations, including: PC and Mac system deployment
Enterprise IT support environments IT helpdesk workflows and
ticketing systems Basic infrastructure concepts Professional
communication and workplace collaboration Customer service and
technical communication skills Interns will also develop soft
skills essential for future employment, including teamwork,
communication with end users, problem-solving, and professional
workplace conduct. The IT department plays a critical role in
supporting researchers, staff, and students by maintaining the
technology infrastructure that powers discovery. Minimum
Qualifications High school senior or early college student pursuing
an interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related
field Basic familiarity with computers (Windows and/or macOS)
Strong willingness to learn and take initiative Good organizational
skills and attention to detail Ability to communicate clearly and
professionally Preferred Qualifications Entry level IT
certifications earned or close to completion (A or similar) Basic
knowledge of computer hardware or operating system installation
Interest in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure
Previous experience building, configuring, or troubleshooting
computers (personal or academic) Work Hours Typically,
Monday-Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm. 40-hour onsite work week. Some
work may be required outside the normal working hours. OMRF
