L&D RN/nRequired Certifications/n/nBLS/n/nNRP/n/nFetal Heart
Monitoring/n/nFacility Policy: Can cancel 1 shift every other
week/n/nUnit Details/n/n15–17 births per month/n/nNurse will
cover:/n/nLabor & Delivery/n/nMother-Baby/n/nNewborn
Nursery/n/nCouplet Care/n/nGYN Surgery patients/n/nMay float to
Med/Surg if no OB patients/n/nIf not comfortable taking Med/Surg
assignment, RN will assist with vitals, meds, etc./n/nTeam
Structure/n/nRN works alongside an LPN/n/nRN responsible
for:/n/nLaboring patients/n/nTriage/n/nInitial
assessments/n/nMother-baby care/n/nLPN role:/n/nCannot labor or
triage patients/n/nCannot perform initial assessments/n/nAssists
with EFM, patient support, baby nurse role, documentation/n/nBaby
assessments must be validated by RN/n/nAdditional Notes/n/nSmall
unit with strong support/n/nTransfer Coordinator (House Supervisor)
available for assistance/n/nIn emergencies, LPN goes to OR for baby
