Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients on a 33-bed
cardiovascular stepdown unit Monitor cardiac patients with acute
conditions such as STEMI/NSTEMI and CHF, adjusting care as needed
Administer and titrate IV medications, including antiarrhythmics,
safely and according to protocol Manage patients on noninvasive
ventilation and respond promptly to changes in respiratory status
Care for post-cardiothoracic surgery patients transitioning from
ICU to stepdown Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice
providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
Respond to chest pain rule-outs and manage peripheral vascular
compromise cases with clinical judgment Float to Med/Surg or ER to
cover holds and support continuity of care when needed
Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
Minimum 2 years of stepdown (SDU) or cardiovascular stepdown
nursing experience Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and
flexible scheduling Experience with STEMI/NSTEMI care, CHF
management, and cardiothoracic post-op care Proven ability to
administer IV medications, including antiarrhythmics Experience
with noninvasive ventilation and monitoring high-acuity cardiac
patients Ability to float to Med/Surg and ER and handle CVCU/Med
Surg holds as needed Ability to manage a typical ratio of 1:4 in
the stepdown setting Knowledge & Skills Cardiac monitoring and
interpretation of dysrhythmias IV medication administration and
infusion management Noninvasive ventilation setup and
troubleshooting Postoperative cardiothoracic care and transitional
management from ICU Assessment and management of CHF and ischemic
cardiac conditions Peripheral vascular compromise recognition and
interventions Adaptability to fast-paced unit needs and
cross-coverage in Med/Surg or ER Benefits Supportive travel
