required License: Current license from the state board of medical
licensure and supervision as an Occupational Therapist
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American
Heart Association required upon hire Must-Have: - Bachelor’s Degree
in Occupational Therapy - Knowledge of the principles and practices
of professional occupational therapy - Skill in organizing and
instructing occupational therapy activities - Ability to interpret
prescriptions related to therapy needed - Good interpersonal skills
for establishing effective working relationships with staff -
Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to
patients - Some computer skills Description: Under general
supervision, performs professional occupational therapy activities.
Activities consist of planning, evaluating, establishing, and
implementing individual and group treatment activities under the
direction of a physician. Interprets a physician’s referral and
selects an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure. Evaluates
patients in the following areas: independent living skills,
occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment,
educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills, and
various psychosocial skills. Interprets the data and develops a
treatment plan involving short and long-term goals, frequency, and
duration of treatment. Assists patients in carrying out procedures
through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and
orthotic devices, joint protection, and body mechanics. Informs
patients and families of goals and progress. Assists with discharge
planning by ordering equipment and instructing patients on home
therapy plans. May supervise students if applicable. Performs other
