Job Description The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center in Oklahoma
is actively recruiting to fill a Board Certified/Board Eligible
Staff Geriatric Medicine Physician HBPC Medical Director position
in our growing Section of Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Service.
The physician will dedicate 30-70% of the time, daily, to ensuring
the daily operations of our Home-Based Primary Care Program are
occurring safely and efficiently. Our program currently serves
>550 home-bound Veterans around Oklahoma City and Lawton,
Oklahoma and is the largest HBPC Program in our region. The major
aspects of the work are focused on clinical consultation and team
collaboration, program leadership, program management, quality
assurance, performance improvement, evaluation and supervision of
HBPC medical providers, and other specific duties and coverage as
assigned. The balance of time will be utilized to manage a small
panel of HBPC Veterans and to serve in rotation for other clinical
assignments within GEC, as scheduled or assigned. We also remain
the primary clinical site for a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship
Program and the education of medical residents and students
throughout the year. Selected candidates may be eligible or
encouraged to apply for a volunteer faculty appointment at Oklahoma
University Medical School and may be involved in the clinical
teaching of medical students or residents from other sites in our
community. As an Executive Career Field employee, the selected
candidate will report to and work closely with the Chief of
Geriatrics and will be a member of the GEC Leaders Group. The
duties include but are not limited to: 1. Serve as a member of the
GEC Leaders Group (meeting monthly and ad hoc) 2. Work closely with
HBPC Program Coordinator, HBPC Nurse Manager, Chief Nurse for
Geriatrics & Extended Care, and Administrative Officer for GEC. 3.
Collaborate with HBPC Program Support Assistants on overall program
management and response to changes and monitoring 4. Serve as Chair
or Co-Chair of HBPC Steering Committee and HBPC Monthly meetings 5.
Lead and assist with HBPC program development, including strategic
planning; 6. Program leadership, quality improvement, quality
assurance, continuous survey 7. Readiness, and committee/work
groups in collaboration with others 8. Understand, manage, and
assist with the review and revision of HBPC Policy to 9. Ensure
compliance with VHA guidance 10. Assist with response and
management of Action Items related to HBPC 11. Assist with response
and management of emergencies as it relates to HBPC 12. Supervise
and evaluate all HBPC clinical providers in Oklahoma City and
Lawton 13. Serve as a local point of contact and subject-matter
expert as it relates to home and community-based care services for
veterans. 14. Maintain licensure and certifications requisite for
credentials and privileges at the OKC VA HCS at all times 15. Meet
ethical and professional standards as written in the Medical Staff
Bylaws and ensure that work relations are in compliance with
facility standards and expectations as written and communicated 16.
Other duties or cross-coverage as assigned by the Associate Chief
of Staff include CLC Consultation, CLC Attending, Palliative Care
Attending, and On-Call. The OKC VAHCS is located in Oklahoma City,
OK and is the “Flagship” for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System
(OKC VAHCS) - a Joint Commission-accredited, referral level 1b
(medium complexity) facility. The Primary Care department serves
patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for
more than 70,000 veterans in an area including 48 counties in
Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Join a department

patients! Work Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00 am – 16:30
pm. - U.S. Citizens receive preference – non-U.S. Citizens may be
considered. - Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice
medicine or surgery in the U.S. - Preferred Characteristics: Board
Certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, but Board
Eligibility may also be considered. The starting pay is $220,000 -
$300,000 per year. - A recruitment incentive may be offered, and
there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to
$15,000. - Retirement: Federal Retirement Plan through the Federal
Employees Retirement System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan
composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic
benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), which is a
401K-type plan, with up to 5% government matching contributions -

Free liability protection with tail coverage provided -

days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of

full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory - CME:
Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with

and no significant restrictions on moonlighting -
