Machinist 2nd shift 4 pm to 2:30 am 3 years’ experience preferred.
Pay will DOE. Job Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual
vertical turning machines to shape large, heavy, and complex metal
components, such as turbine engine parts, large pump components,
and industrial equipment components. Working from detailed
blueprints and engineering drawings to perform precision machining,
often holding tight tolerances. Required Qualifications Experience:
3 years of experience as a manual VTL machinist in a job shop or
industrial environment. Technical Skills: Deep understanding of
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), shop math, and
trigonometry. Equipment Proficiency: Experience with manual
machines like Bullard VTLs, engine lathes, or boring mills.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or
apprenticeship completion is highly preferred. Physical Strength:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Key Skills Precision & Accuracy: Meticulous attention to detail to
meet tight tolerances. Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to unique,
one-off projects and troubleshoot complex machining scenarios.
Safety Consciousness: Knowledge of safety procedures and
willingness to work with heavy, high-speed machinery. Job
Responsibilities Setup and Operation: Independently set up and
operate manual VTLs, including selecting and securing fixtures,
chucks, and cutting tools. Machining Processes: Perform turning,
facing, boring, threading, and drilling on various materials
(steel, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium). Technical
Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings,
blueprints, and job travelers to determine machining sequences and
dimensions. Quality Control: Perform in-process and final
inspections using precision measuring instruments such as
micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to ensure compliance with
specifications. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with
tooling, setups, or machine performance, making on-the-fly
adjustments to speeds and feeds. Material Handling: Utilize
overhead cranes and forklifts to load and unload heavy parts
(>50 lbs.). Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on
machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and maintaining a safe,
