Job Description:
Position Overview The Engineering Designer will assist in
compiling drawing bills of materials along with creating mechanical
and structural designs for new product parts, subassemblies,
compressor packages, piping systems, and code vessels using 3-D CAD
Systems. Essential Job Functions Modeling, detailing, documenting
and verifying mechanical, structural, subassemblies, process &
instrumentation drawings, or complete assemblies. Creating 3-D
models, depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying
dimensions, design requirements, tolerances and materials Preparing
Drawing Bills of Materials Ensures quality of drawings and document
control according to department standards Makes various
calculations and frequently uses charts and tables to accommodate
the design process Analyzes the effect of proposed changes for
proper fit and/or interference problems Recommends workable
solutions or alternate construction and modifying drawings as
required Requires use of computers, proficient using 3-D CAD
design; proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel,
etc.), proficient with email system, Microsoft Outlook preferred;
strong creative ability to design and develop mechanical,
structural, electrical, electronic equipment Work Environment
Mental: Clear and conceptual thinking ability, excellent judgment,
troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability
to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple
priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines. Physical:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as
keyboarding and writing. The employee frequently is required to
reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Must have visual
acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for
the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the
job efficiently. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety
inspections. Ability to navigate uneven work surfaces at job sites
and customer locations. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
detailed instructions Ability to manage one’s own time and
prioritize work Education/Experience - Required Bachelor’s degree
in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or a
related field. Experience with CAD software (such as AutoCAD,
SolidWorks or Inventor) Excellent attention to detail, strong
mathematical skills and the ability to interpret complex
instructions and specifications Good verbal and written
communication skills for effective collaboration with team members
